Sun City: Tri-ing since 1993!

Sun City Tri is one of the North East's leading Triathlon Clubs, catering for all levels from absolute beginners to World Championship medal winners. The club was started in 1993, so 2009 sees us celebrating 16 years of tri in Sunderland. We have members who have competed for almost 20yrs, several Ironman finishers and lots of members who just enjoy getting fitter. Whatever you want from Triathlon we reckon we have the knowledge and skills to make Triathlon a great experience for you (and we have the "STAR mark" to prove it), plus we're one of the most welcoming clubs around.

  • MEMBERSHIPS FOR 2010 ARE NOW DUE FOR RENEWAL

Current members are encouraged to renew before the 31st of January to attract the discounted rate.

New/Non members are advised that membership of the club is compulsory within a month of attending their 1st session.

Note that failure to renew before the end of January or join within 1 month will result in you not being able to swim in either the Tuesday or Thursday Sessions due to space constraints. You will however, for the moment, still be able to access the Saturday session.

For more information, and membership forms, go to our membership page.

  • CHRISTMAS SWIMMING TIMES At Boldon, both School & CA swimming pools will be closed on Thursday 24th December and not re-open until Monday 4th January. This means that our last session before Christmas will be on Tuesday 22 December, and we'll be starting again on Tuesday 5 January. Also remember we have got a session on Saturday 10:00 - 12:00 at the community pool in Boldon so get down if you fancy a bit of extra training before everything does close. The more training you do, the more you can enjoy your chocolates at Christmas!

Entries are on Tri Hard In other news, for aspiring AG triathletes, British Triathlon have released the Major Events calendar for 2010. Their site is not that easy to navigate, but the schedule can be found here.
  • BASIC TRAINING PROGRAMME: Ian Walker has drawn on his 19 years of coaching experience to put together a basic training plan that will be useful for club members trying to improve their performances, especially at this time of year- you'll soon be like Billy Whizz (check out the plan for an explanation!). You can download it directly, or via the updated coaching page.
  • FACEBOOK GROUP: Sun City Tri now have a Facebook group- if you're a club member and you're on Facebook, look it up and join in! It won't replace this website and the information you'll find here, but it's an extra way to keep in touch with friends from the club. What do you mean you're not on Facebook? Think of all the time you'd be able to waste if you were...
  • 2010 EVENTS: we're looking for volunteers to take on the role of "event leaders" for club races in 2010 with Mandy acting as an overall "events manager" and providing support. Email or speak to her if you're interested or to find out more. We're also looking to expand the range of events we organise and suggestions so far include a bike "sportive" ride, a 10K run and a surf aquathlon on the beach. Again, speak to Mandy if you're interested in taking the lead on one or more of these, or have your own ideas for events. We'll give you all the support we can!
