Sun City: Tri-ing for 15 years!

Sun City Tri is one of the North East's leading Triathlon Clubs, catering for all levels from absolute beginners to World Championship medal winners. The club was started in 1993, so 2008 sees us celebrating 15 years of tri in Sunderland and also our move into the newest 50m pool in Britain! We have members who have competed for almost 20yrs, several Ironman finishers and lots of members who just enjoy getting fitter. Whatever you want from Triathlon we reckon we have the knowledge and skills to make Triathlon a great experience for you (and we have the "STAR mark" to prove it), plus we're one of the most welcoming clubs around.

  • SUN CITY TRIATHLON: A huge thank you (the size of the waves...) to competitors and marshalls alike. Results are available online via tri247 and photos are available to purchase from John Brown Photography. See you in 2009!
  • UPCOMING RACES: There are some interesting new races coming up in the next few months. The "Benfield Try a Tri" is aimed at people wanting to have a go at their first race in a friendly environment (Benfield sports centre); the "Sunshine Fund Triathlon" is a charity event based in Ponteland and organised by the evening Chronicle (it's particularly suitable for newcomers to the sport) and the Stockton Triathlon looks like an interesting event at a great venue with Sprint and Standard distances plus a team competition. Of course there's also the classics like Prince Bishops, Hebburn, Teesdale and Helvellyn too. More details are available via Northernpulse.
  • NEW TRAINING SESSIONS: We're running some new sessions for club members on a weekly basis. There's a run session on Tuesdays at 7pm meeting at the Seaburn Centre, the main club swimming session on Wednesdays at the Aquatic centre at 7pm and a Sun City time trial on Thursday evenings, based at Follingsby lane. There should be a club coach or comittee member present at all these sessions to offer advice and welcome prospective new members. Feel free to use the soapbox feature to arrange sessions with other members too.
  • FOLLINGSBY LANE TIME TRIAL MAP: Finally, we have a map showing the TT course around Follingsby lane- thank you to Ian walker for sorting it out! You can access it via the Time Trialling page or directly by clicking here. NE31 tri club organise a TT there on Wednesday evenings, or the Sun City version will be on Thursdays.
